Construction and/or Formwork Carpenters & Steel Fixers

Skilled Labourers – Tomago (Newcastle)

We currently have several opportunities for skilled Construction and/or Formwork Carpenters and Steel Fixers to join us at our specialty precast operation at Tomago (Newcastle), reporting to the Production Manager of the under-roof factory facility.

We’ve experienced significant growth recently and with a healthy forward order book, we’re now looking for pro-active team members who can be an integral part of the Mascot team.

The successful applicant/s must be hands-on, reliable and have an enthusiastic approach, show solid attention to detail and be willing to lead all facets of formwork, steel fixing and concreting as required for the heavy precast products we make for the industry.

 

The Role

As one of our skilled Carpenters and Steel Fixers you will be expected to carry out duties such as the one’s below from the start of a project piece to its completion (but not limited to):

  • The safe preparation and setting up of all aspects of precast product formwork to produce our products, including (but not limited to):
  • Reading technical drawings in order to begin a project precast product
  • Measuring and setting out our ‘Decks’ for precast production
  • Cutting and boxing up of specific precast shutters for a job
  • Stripping and correct storage of our formwork shutters
  • You will also be required to assist with other aspects to complete a project including:
  • Assisting with the pouring of concrete products
  • Bending and tying of steel reinforcement bars where required
  • The finishing of our concrete products ready for supply to our customers.

 

About You

The successful candidates will be:

  • Motivated with attention to detail;
  • Reliable;
  • Have a can-do attitude;
  • Have experience in form working and concrete production;
  • Have a safe outlook on all aspects of your daily activities;
  • Hold a current drivers license (and ideally a forklift license, but not necessary);

These roles can be permanent full time or casual positions on a full-time basis from Monday to Friday (day shift) and remuneration will be based on experience with overtime hours available on an as-needs basis.

Previous experience in a construction, concreting or manufacturing environment is preferred, as is an understanding of the precast industry.
