Mascot Engineering is proud to have supplied key infrastructure products for the upgrade of Macquarie Street in Liverpool’s CBD—part of Liverpool City Council’s ongoing revitalisation of key civic spaces to improve functionality, accessibility, and visual appeal.

 Macquarie Street is one of Liverpool’s most prominent city thoroughfares. The recent upgrade aimed to transform the area into a more pedestrian-friendly and visually cohesive urban space, while future-proofing it with upgraded underground services for power, data, and communications.

A critical component of the project involved maintaining access to these services without disrupting the visual continuity of the new pavements.

Mascot Engineering supplied a range of products to support this upgrade, including:

• Precast GRC Cable Pits, manufactured in Australia for the Australian environment to suit various services (drainage and electrical) across the urban site.
• Access Covers, primarily paver infill style, designed to sit flush within the finished pavement for a discreet and seamless appearance.

Mascot Engineering’s paver infill covers allow for easy access to services below while maintaining the aesthetic intent of the upgraded footpaths and public spaces. Available in gastight/watertight as well as simple drop in versions, these deep dish paver infill covers combined with the lightweight yet durable nature of our precast GRC pits, was the ideal solution for a high-traffic urban environment.

The upgraded Macquarie Street now offers a more modern, welcoming, and pedestrian-friendly space—while remaining functional beneath the surface.
