Just south of Perth in Kwinana is the decommissioned BP Refinery which is in the process of being transformed to a biofuel facility. The billion dollar renewable fuels project will produce up to 1.6m litres of biofuels daily from biological and agricultural waste like vegetable oils.
As part of the reuse of the site, new high voltage (HV) electrical cables needed to be installed. Lightweight Mascot GRC Cable Pits were chosen by the contractor due to their ease of installation and being suitable for Class C and Class D loadings. The site required large HV electrical precast pits and utilised our 900mm x 900mm pits (CJP5 range) with Class C & Class D pit covers.
With Mascot GRC Pits, conduit entries can be made in any location, you’re not limited to a knockout panel found in traditional concrete pits. Pipe entries can also be done with a ball pein hammer, making work on site simple and efficient.
