The recent addition of the Saddles Barn expands this popular destination, providing a new multi-use space that blends seamlessly with the natural and built environment.
The new Saddles Barn continues the site’s tradition of refined rural architecture, offering a space for private events, workshops, and community gatherings. As with the original Saddles homestead, café and restaurant, the expansion called for premium finishes and attention to detail—above and below ground.
With landscaped paths, natural stonework, and a commitment to quality, every element had to match the property’s high standards without compromising on functionality or durability.
To support the site’s stormwater drainage and service needs, Mascot Engineering supplied:
- Lightweight, heavy-duty Precast GRC Drainage Pits – ideal for quick installation without the need for heavy machinery, perfectly suited for the site’s limited access, distance from Sydney and sensitive landscaping.
- Heelproof Galvanised Grates – providing safe pedestrian access with a clean finish that complements the barn’s outdoor and indoor spaces.
The GMS heelproof grates chosen for this project provide pedestrian safety without drawing attention to themselves like stainless steel often can—making them ideal for visually sensitive, design-driven environments like Saddles, Mount White.
These products ensure reliable stormwater management while preserving the integrity of the site’s carefully designed walkways and landscape features. The use of GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) not only reduced installation time and costs but also provided long-term durability in an environment that experiences both heavy rain and foot traffic.
The Saddles Barn now benefits from a concealed but critical drainage system that handles surface water efficiently without disrupting the look and feel of the property.
